And so too will singers from area Lutheran churches including Redeemer in an inspiring concert presentation of Franz Joseph Haydn’s oratorio, The Creation, in Daniel Chapel at Furman University.   David Rhyne, Director of Music at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, will conduct the combined chorus and guest soloists: Kathryn Rhyne, soprano; Keith Jones, tenor; and Bruce Schoonmaker, bass; with David Phillips, organist.

Second in popularity only to Handel’s sacred oratorio The Messiah The Creation combines texts from the Bible and Milton’s Paradise Lost with a masterful musical score by Haydn to praise the glory of God in the creation of the world. Praise is the theme throughout as we are led from the first dawning of light upon the face of the water, to the sporting of whales in the newly created ocean, to the ethereal gates of Heaven itself!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 23 at 5 PM. The concert is free and open to the public.
